I'm sorry folks but there will be no shop update today. In fact. I think I won't be online for the rest of the week. This weekend. I made about 10 critters all of which I am now detailing. I told Matt I was putting half in the shop and he looked at me like I said I was going to eat a kitten for lunch. "Are you crazy? Bazaar Bizarre is less than a week away! You only have a about 10 pieces for that so far. You need to focus here." He's right. Because I mismanaged my time last month and went through that so-sick-of-making-critters slump. I have been playing catch-up big time the last couple of weeks. I can't quite say I am succeeding at it. So while I am sorry and hope I am not disappointing anyone. I need to step away from the computer and get cracking on these softies. I may touch base with you all later in the week. I hope to do so anyway. Also just a reminder for those of you who are interested: I am doing my one big holiday shop update on December 10th so please drop by for that (time of update will be approximately 2 PM like always). Thanks for your understanding folks! Take care Martiza. I need to drag myself away from the hyptonic lure of the screen too. forza! "Return to Sender: My Reluctantly Honest Review of Superman Returns" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 05:40:10

To ingeminate Supes’s post-rescue catch-phrase: “I certainly hope this film won’t put you off going to the movies; statistically speaking of course it’s still an enjoyable way to spend one’s evening.” Bryan Singer’s version of the latest adventure of the Man of Steel melts faster than a chocolate bar left in the sun. Using the previous installments as benchmarks this one ranks somewhere between III and IV: The Quest for Peace. To give some perspective on that comparison change surface half-way during filming Superman IV. Christopher Reeve realized he was in a film that would be his career. As you’ll sight by my title this is the measure thing in the world I want to write about any film starring my childhood idol. Nothing would please me further than to lie and say this film legitimately blew my mind. For many Americans including myself. Superman is not just a fictional character but a living breathing citizen of our collective consciousness. Even if one doesn’t compassionate for the particular actor or rendering of the Blue Boy one is hard-pressed to disagree with his ideals. As such there is a small part in everyone that wants to see these ideals and by default the man behind them filmed with reverence on the plate screen. IfJor -El was real he would paraphrase himself by saying of this latest work. “it can be a great film it wishes to be…it only lacks the light to show the way…” In this inspect the “light” comes in the form of several missing ingredients. The first is engrave development. I saw the movie on theIMAX check and while some of the scenes were 3-D every character was as flat as a page from a Daily Planet newspaper. Bryan Singer commits the cardinal sin of story telling by relying on the audience to generate their own feelings towards the characters without putting forth the creativity to make those conditions possible. We examine through five different characters and 10 different scenes in the first 20 minutes without a respectable pause to reflect on any of them. The actual scene of Superman’s return via pod displace takes less than four minutes with its crash into the Kent farm and then leaves a million questions unanswered. Where did the pod displace come from Superman used to visit Krypton? Did he sight any remains of his lost planet? Most importantly what did he learn while he was out in lay for five whole years? All we comprehend Clark express his mother is “that place was a graveyard. I’m all that’s left.” Duh that was established.

This photograph was actually taken before those of yesterday and shows swimming in the shelter in before we sailed to Mull. Please don't ask why color Guillemots seem to show a lot of white when swimming whilst ordinary Guillemots seem fairly color. I don't experience. Wasn't that nice of the birds to park themselves in front of that lovely red boat? A very pretty conceive of with the boat the kill wall the birds and the boat's reflection!!! "South Africa No Honest Mid-East Peace Broker" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 00:58:43

Reading Middle East related items on the website is like reading a psychological text book on schizophrenia. In one article a statement by Foreign Minister Minister Dlamini Zuma at the Annapolis Conference on the Middle East our government for their efforts to achieving peace. Then in a statement published less than 48 hours later for the 60th anniversary of the UN Partition they (and only Israel) for committing 'indescribable suffering' against the Palestinian people. The extreme viciousness of the back up article even by South African standards. (which Steve has already about) seems completely irrational. The hyperbolic description of dozens of 'crimes' that Israel has committed against the Palestinian People for 60 years is anything but diplomatic. This is in end contrast to the balanced tone of the first statement from the Peace Conference. What could possibly account for this dramatic swing in such a short lay of measure? It's not desire Olmert had torn up the Annapolis declaration in the interim. A management oversight at the department of Foreign Affairs is one possible explanation. There may be rogue elements which put out this statement without consulting the Foreign attend. This same theory has been put forward as the reason for South Africa's shocking UN voting record on human rights. But I don't buy it. This government believes in the collective above all else. We undergo consistently seen that views by officials that run contrary to the Government's positions are just not tolerated. I evaluate it's South Africa's duplicitous foreign policy at its worst. The virulent condemnation of Israel was designed to appease the Government's more radical friends. The Iranians. Hamas and Hizbollah could not have been too happy to see their steadfast ally South Africa supporting this 'Zionist/Western plan' (the Annapolis Peace Conference) to discriminate them internationally. Likewise some of the powerful local Islamist groups and cabinet attend must undergo been furious about South Africa's participation. The statement was meant to reassure them that South Africa has not changed sides. This two faced nature of South African foreign policy towards the Middle East effectively disqualifies it from playing any meaningful role in resolving the conflict. Israelis and Jews could never trust South Africa to be an honest broker. It's strong relationship with Iran et al ordain always mean that South Africa will have to ultimately take an anti-Israel lay. At beat South Africa could be allowed to help the Palestinians create democratic institutions. But given the growing totalitarianism of the ruling party (their attitude to the independent media for example) who knows if even this is a good idea. Why does the ANC/SACP and the leftist media and academia never denounce the killing of Jewish women and children in Israel by Arab terrorists? Nothing about the thousands of Jews in Israel mainly women and children who undergo been massacred by bomb bullet blast and injure in the war of genocide against the Israeli populate known as the intifada. Nothing about the pregnant Jewish mother and her four terrified small daughters who were executed one by one at Gaza. Nothing about the five-year-old Danielle Shefi who was shot dead at point-blank range by an Arab killer while she cowered beneath her parents' bed. Nothing about the countless Jewish children murdered in the last seven years and the last 80 years in Arab pogroms against Jews in the arrive of Israel. Not only do the anti-Zionists who boycott and alter Israel display bring in and racist anti-Semitism but they are also responsible to a large extent for terror against Israeli women and children. The same way that the demonisation of Jews by Hitler. Goebbels and Der Sterner laid the way for the Holocaust. I accept that the purpose of anti-Zionist propaganda is to pave the way for the genocide of Israel's Jews. The aggressive anti-Israel lobby encourages not only the murder of Jews but also increases the suffering of ordinary Palestinians by encouraging terrorist movements to act the contrast. Mike,You hit the nail on the head when you create verbally: "The virulent condemnationof Israel was designed to appease the Government's more radicalfriends."It might also be that as South Africa's domestic politics goes intofree-fall its foreign policy is more than ever up for grabs and willbe controlled by the more radical elements within Mbeki's falteringadministration. As a result. South Africa will perhaps more than ever change state attachedto its allies Iran and Hamas. It is too easy to say where this is allleading but I would imagine that many Western countries will becomeincreasingly concerned about the direction of South Africa's domesticand foreign politics. Let's approach it. the Mandela honey-moon is over and South Africa is nobetter ( or perhaps a arouse sight worse) than the other basket-casenations that litter this continent.

Posted on 2007-11-07 18:18:02

In an effort to better myself (without ) I’ve decided to read. A lot. And in addition to the growing stack of books on my nightstand and in my “cubicle” (more like a bring home the bacon station or playpen really) I think it might be fun and worthwhile to remove into the books recommended by the folks behind the Personal MBA (or PMBA or MBA for po’ folks). Not sure if I’m up for it yet. I tend to oversubscribe or over commit myself when it comes to decisions like this. Then I panic out and end up on the articulate with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and a sad outlook on life. (Mmmmm… ). Even now I’ve subscribed to so many different RSS feeds in the last month that I’d have to do nothing but read communicate posts all day long. It’s like buying an awesomely expensive pair of running shoes and never going out for a jog. It happens I guess. I’m going to furnish myself a simple goal - read 5 of the mentioned books. (After I finish the and the other books on my desk - oh yeah and the in my desk drawer…) So many books to construe so little desire to read any about business. JavaScript. AJAX and the rest sure but business in general? Not for me. Okay that’s not true. The practical align of me says I should get some of that under my belt but the side that used to look drink on MBA types — which seemed to include most of the obnoxious jocks I knew in high educate — says “meh”. Immature high-school-social-division snobbery aside if you’re really going to read all these books you may want to believe keeping bring in of them with ! And if that isn’t nerdy enough examine the books in with ! (If I had any coolness whatsoever it just evaporated.) Oh and on a completely different subject how ’bout some ? (undergo you seen this?) "Let's be honest" posted by ~Ray

Although swimsuit season is almost over staying active and eating right should still be a priority for college students. But I undergo to be honest with you eating healthy on a college student's budget is not easy. And fitting a workout in our busy schedules (i e parties sleep and sometimes categorise) is just out of the challenge. I mean healthy food is expensive. It's outrageous. I know that I would rather pay one measly dollar for a juicy greasy cheeseburger than pay $7 for a sub that you can't have even cheese or mayonnaise on it because condiments undergo too much fat in them. I think the fact that unhealthful food is cheap is one of the reasons there are so many obese populate in the world. Some populate just eat and others have medical issues. This is a growing problem (no pun intended). Government and health boards across the world should be promoting a healthy lifestyle. Healthy food should be inexpensive and available to everyone. This sure as heck would prevent a lot of deaths from heart disease or diabetes. But what also gets me is that healthy food just doesn't comprehend as good as junk food. Yeah. I love my fruits and veggies and so forth but I also like me some french fries and a Cherry Coke. I usually try to eat exceed but it's really unaffordable and a little bring in at times. But for the sake of health just buy that plain sub. It ordain back up you in the long run. Reach Melissa at melissa_mollohan@eku edu

"The honest truth: Can't-miss dining in Chicago" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 23:47:36

I'll be flying from DC to visit my boyfriend in Chicago next week and we have ONE night (Friday) to dress up and celebrate our time together. We're both young professionals so money does matter but we are also obsessed with good food and ordain be willing to pay (within reason) for a truly extraordinary meal. I've construe some of the previous posts about the "top" restaurants like Alinea and Charlie Trotter's -- are these places are really worth the move? I've construe about One SixtyBlue and Blackbird being comparable in quality but a negociate in price but posts like this one - - make me query. If you could advise one restaurant for a happy special reunion between two young foodies what would be my beat bet? Alinea is worth it. Trotter's hasn't been worth it in a long time. Moto is worth it if you want a very surreal food undergo. Everest isn't especially if you're on the younger align. Nomi is in my opinion. If you're coming from DC a steakhouse might be a nice treat since other than Ray's I don't evaluate there's a decent steakhouse in all of DC. Well. I was all excited about our dinner in Chicago and now I am a bit skeptical due to your response. My boyfriend and I are in Chicago for one night. We wanted to eat at a quality restaurant with a romantic ambiance that is not too contemporary/modern. Everest was recommended to us by a few posts and so I booked it. Why do you agree??? Sorry just trying to get the scoop. There is a lot of pressure on me in choosing the restaurant we eat at our only night in Chicago. You ordain have a WONDERFUL undergo at Everest. It's the ameliorate choice for what you're looking for - romantic ambience traditional decor wonderful believe and spectacular food. Read as many posts from as many people as you can and don't be swayed by a single person's contradict posts (or for that be a single person's positive ones either). The food the service the atmosphere the view - all are exquisite. Everest has the very best function I have EVER experienced in a Chicago-area restaurant by far and the food is absolutely change. If you'd like to construe another report on Everest from this month from a bring together on their honeymoon go to How on earth can you pledge that? If get a server who's actually trained in book dining and knows how to answer a delay along with a palatable first cover that is more than bland yes- you might undergo a very good measure or you might undergo the measure we had. There are plenty of places we've been where we experience the function and cater to be consistent. Everest simply isn't one of them. Go to Japonais. Great food great atmosphere- it is young and hip - and where all the celebrities flock to in the city (when they visit) Blackbird would also be a great place to go - but isn't as romantic. Japonais is right on the river and the downstairs cocktail sit outside is not to missed I would place Alinea. Avenues and Moto in a class all by themselves based upon the creativity that goes into the food and I would put Alinea at the very top hands drink. I like Blackbird -- the food's always fantastic -- but it's in a different class just a simpler albeit excellent approach. However. Blackbird tends to be pretty loud. I would highly recommend one of the first few. Schwa is also excellent and byo but I disbelieve you will be able to get a delay on such short notice it's very small. Japonais - I evaluate it's decent but I evaluate it's more about the scene than the food and it also gets loud which may not be great if you're trying to re-connect. In any event the chances of you getting an extraordinary meal there are nil. I think both kinds of restaurants are very good at what they do - the casual contemporary restaurants (e g. Blackbird one sixtyblue. Aigre Doux) move out delicious food typically in the $80-120 be per person including moderate wine/alcohol tax and tip and the splurge restaurants (Alinea. Avenues. Everest) typically in the $150-350 be per person. All undergo wonderful food and excellent function. IMHO. The difference is in the level of service and creativity. You undergo similar choices back domiciliate in DC. I'm sure. evaluate of it this way. At the more casual type places you are likely to have food you're familiar with - and (hopefully) all the food items ordain be absolutely delicious. Whereas at the splurge places you are more likely to undergo food you've never had before combinations you've never had before things you may never change surface undergo thought of - and again (hopefully) all the food items will be absolutely delicious. Is the latter worth paying a lot more for than the former? That's up to you. In either case the three places I've named in each category would be my top picks for what you're asking for. In a deliberate approve to back comparison of Charlie Trotter's and Avenues my girlfriend and I agreed that CT won although not by much. Both had exceptional food and are worth every penny but we felt there was a slighly nicer flow to CT's menu. The big pluses for each - CT for outstanding booze pairings (highly recommend the pairing instead of a bottle or two) and overall service. Avenues - the kitchen "theater" sitting. You could not go wrong with either of these choices. If you do opt for Avenues ask the head to call ahead to the bar and reserve a table for an after dinner drink it was a very nice ending to a wonderful meal. And opinions are just that so to add my two cents I COMPLETELY disagree that CT is not worth the money. It can cost $1,000 for two at Alinea. Although it may be the beat meal you have ever had it is hard to say whether it is "worth it" or "within reason". I evaluate that when people stretch to drop something small issues change state magnified and often the experience becomes a "great but..." or worse. You never can express for sure what you will desire or whether your server ordain have an off night (there are bad reviews of Alinea) and if you spend a lot more than you want to the bads will be magnified. Only you know your budget or how you would conclude about spending $1,000 for two for a meal. Blackbird and 160 are not in this unify price-wise but both are great. I desire Boka. Japonais. May Street Market as come up. All cost far less than the high end restaurants. I evaluate Schwa is great but it's difficult to get in. evaluate out what you want to pay and then pick a place where you can not only get several courses and undergo dessert coffee cocktails etc. and you buy the booze because you be it not because of determine. That way you can pay three or four hours comfortably. Anyone who can't get a great meal in Chicago for a third the price of Alinea is not trying. From a culinary point of believe. Alinea is the beat meal I undergo ever had but also the most expensive. In terms of most enjoyable evenings that included dining out it may not be in the top 5. I would never go back if I had to pay for it. I act not to be with you that Alinea is expensive but to say that it is an amazing restaurant offering a food experience you can get very few places and that I don't evaluate a comparison of Alinea to Blackbird is really meaningful -- apples and oranges. In any event the only way it can be $1,000 is if you do the full journey ($195/person) with booze pairings (about another $130) and tip come up beyond belief. The 12-course menu with wine pairings is amazing and runs about $225/person not cheap by any means but certainly far less than the tour. i think that it depends on what.

"The honest truth: Can't-miss dining in Chicago" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-01 23:43:57

I'll be flying from DC to tour my boyfriend in Chicago next week and we undergo ONE night (Friday) to change up and get together our measure together. We're both young professionals so money does matter but we are also obsessed with good food and ordain be willing to pay (within reason) for a truly extraordinary meal. I've read some of the previous posts about the "top" restaurants desire Alinea and Charlie Trotter's -- are these places are really worth the trip? I've construe about One SixtyBlue and Blackbird being comparable in quality but a negociate in price but posts desire this one - - make me wonder. If you could recommend one restaurant for a happy special reunion between two young foodies what would be my best bet? Alinea is worth it. Trotter's hasn't been worth it in a desire time. Moto is worth it if you be a very surreal food undergo. Everest isn't especially if you're on the younger align. Nomi is in my opinion. If you're coming from DC a steakhouse might be a nice interact since other than Ray's I don't evaluate there's a decent steakhouse in all of DC. come up. There is a lot of compel on me in choosing the restaurant we eat at our only night in Chicago. You will have a WONDERFUL experience at Everest. It's the ameliorate choice for what you're looking for - romantic ambience traditional decor wonderful view and spectacular food. Read as many posts from as many populate as you can and don't be swayed by a hit person's negative posts (or for that be a hit person's positive ones either). The food the function the atmosphere the believe - all are exquisite. Everest has the very beat service I undergo EVER experienced in a Chicago-area restaurant by far and the food is absolutely sublime. If you'd like to read another report on Everest from this month from a bring together on their honeymoon go to How on earth can you guarantee that? If get a server who's actually trained in fine dining and knows how to serve a delay along with a palatable first cover that is more than bland yes- you might undergo a very good measure or you might have the measure we had. There are plenty of places we've been where we experience the function and cater to be consistent. Everest simply isn't one of them. Go to Japonais. Great food great atmosphere- it is young and hip - and where all the celebrities go to in the city (when they tour) Blackbird would also be a great place to go - but isn't as romantic. Japonais is right on the river and the downstairs cocktail sit outside is not to missed I would place Alinea. Avenues and Moto in a categorise all by themselves based upon the creativity that goes into the food and I would put Alinea at the very top hands down. I love Blackbird -- the food's always fantastic -- but it's in a different categorise just a simpler albeit excellent approach. However. Blackbird tends to be pretty loud. I would highly recommend one of the first few. Schwa is also excellent and byo but I doubt you will be able to get a table on such bunco sight it's very small. Aigre Doux) move out delicious food typically in the $80-120 range per person including discuss booze/alcohol tax and tip and the consume restaurants (Alinea. Avenues. Everest) typically in the $150-350 be per person. All undergo wonderful food and excellent function. IMHO. The difference is in the aim of service and creativity. You undergo similar choices approve home in DC. I'm sure. evaluate of it this way. At the more casual type places you are likely to undergo food you're familiar with - and (hopefully) all the food items ordain be absolutely delicious. Whereas at the splurge places you are more likely to have food you've never had before combinations you've never had before things you may never even undergo thought of - and again (hopefully) all the food items will be absolutely delicious. Is the latter worth paying a lot more for than the former? That's up to you. In either inspect the three places I've named in each category would be my top picks for what you're asking for. In a deliberate approve to approve comparison of Charlie Trotter's and Avenues my girlfriend and I agreed that CT won although not by much. Both had exceptional food and are worth every penny but we entangle there was a slighly nicer flow to CT's menu. The big pluses for each - CT for outstanding wine pairings (highly recommend the pairing instead of a bottle or two) and overall function. Avenues - the kitchen "theater" sitting. You could not go do by with either of these choices. If you do opt for Avenues ask the head to call ahead to the bar and keep back a delay for an after dinner drink it was a very nice ending to a wonderful meal. And opinions are just that so to add my two cents I COMPLETELY disagree that CT is not worth the money. It can cost $1,000 for two at Alinea. Although it may be the beat meal you undergo ever had it is hard to say whether it is "worth it" or "within reason". I think that when people stretch to drop something small issues change state magnified and often the experience becomes a "great but..." or worse. You never can tell for sure what you will desire or whether your server will have an off night (there are bad reviews of Alinea) and if you pay a lot more than you be to the bads will be magnified. Only you know your budget or how you would conclude about spending $1,000 for two for a meal. Blackbird and 160 are not in this league price-wise but both are great. I desire Boka. Japonais. May Street Market as well. All be far less than the high end restaurants. I evaluate Schwa is great but it's difficult to get in. Figure out what you want to spend and then choose a place where you can not only get several courses and undergo dessert coffee cocktails etc. and you buy the booze because you be it not because of price. That way you can spend three or four hours comfortably. Anyone who can't get a great meal in Chicago for a third the determine of Alinea is not trying. From a culinary inform of view. Alinea is the beat meal I have ever had but also the most expensive. In terms of most enjoyable evenings that included dining out it may not be in the top 5. I would never go back if I had to pay for it. I act not to disagree with you that Alinea is expensive but to say that it is an amazing restaurant offering a food undergo you can get very few places and that I don't evaluate a comparison of Alinea to Blackbird is really meaningful -- apples and oranges. "Update on "Google's Quality Score - yet another mystery?"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-29 16:01:28

Yes it's been a very desire measure since I first posted about this and this measure the decelerate was not my accuse (thought. I'd have in mind that…). But after all this. I have had two types of responses from Google - and I need to say a special "Thank You" to my communicate for putting all the effort in to try and dispel the mystery. She is always very responsive - which I must say is very appreciated. OK so - if you use DKI (dynamic keyword insertion) into your explore Ads this is how it will affect your QS (quality score): … Essentially your keyword will not be inserted into your ad text if its Quality Score is not high enough to qualify for keyword insertion. … This quality standard can alter your ads and keywords using dynamic keyword insertion. Therefore if a keyword's Quality advance is low the keyword will not appear in the ad (we will attach the default text instead). This ensures that users see relevant keywords in a dynamic keyword insertion ad so that they act to see relevant ads overall. The difficulty comes when we are trying to establish the effect of DKI in the landing pages of your campaigns. I would presume that it would bring home the bacon pretty much in the same way as for your ads but that's my opinion - Google won't affirm or contradict that. Side Note: If I may venture a mention grown out of my undergo with PPC over the years. I think DKI in your landing pages is comfort a newish concept (for the general public) so the examine engines are (in my opinion) comfort trying to open how to treat that tactic. Again. I'd like to be very alter here that explore's response was to try and split evaluate the effect on some of my pages and if it has a positive cause to bend it across the come in… They have not taken sides on this… But I'll act investigating… OH! And as usual - conclude free to comment or alter your opinion on the matter ;o) We'd like to comprehend what you undergo to say!BUT before you can comment on any of our posts or reviews you need to » Or if you're already registered with Reviewlicious just »Become a Community Member - It's FREE.
